Milano Verticale (pp. 96, ita-eng) is the eighth book in the “Itineraries of Milanese architecture” series, is edited by the Foundation of the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists of the Province of Milan and is dedicated to the city’s high rise buildings following up an itinerary of 2010 named ‘Milano Alta’. The book is a reflection on the tall city as an urban device in relationship with the environmental concern and with a specific attention to the urban quality. This elaboration on a different relationship between the natural and the built environment, is enriched by an essay by Fulvio Irace and a dialogue with Jacques Herzog, (Herzog & de Meuron), in which skyscrapers and ideas of the metropolis are discussed from a critical and contemporary perspective. The book features new photographs by Giovanna Silva and is enriched by a foldable insert a with drawing by Studio Folder illustrating the highest towers of the city.
