Following the signing of the Framework Agreement on 15 April 2020, the Politecnico di Milano, the Lombardy Regional Council of the Orders of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists and the territorial Orders of the Provinces of Lodi, Cremona and Piacenza have launched the experience of professional internship as a substitute for the practical test of the State Examination for enrolment in the Register of Architects, Landscape Architects, Planners and Conservationists, for the professions identified in Sections A and B of the Professional Register, pursuant to Presidential Decree no. 328 /2001.
The OAMi, as the coordinating body, is responsible for the accreditation of host institutions, the acceptance of applications from trainees, the monitoring of the experience and the final certification of the internship experience.
The Politecnico di Milano provides insurance cover for the internship (accident and third party liability cover) and will also be the venue for the State Examination.
The professional internship is a structured, regulated and certified experience of professional practice that can be carried out by Politecnico di Milano graduates at a public or private Host Institution, for a period of 900 hours over a period of between six and twelve months, under the responsibility, direct assistance and supervision of a qualified and responsible professional, according to a previously agreed internship project.
The professional internship is good practice to transfer knowledge and skills to graduates, to train them from an ethical and technical perspective and to prepare them for professional practice.
Internships are open to graduates holding qualifications corresponding to the degree classes referred to in articles 17.2 and 18.2 of Presidential Decree 328/2001 and subsequent equivalences, of the degree classes referred to in Ministerial Decree 270 /04. The internship replaces the practical test of the State Examination for enrolment in the Register of Architects, Landscape Architects, Planners and Conservationists.
Studios, companies and public bodies can apply for accreditation to become host organisations by filling in a short questionnaire: they are assessed by the Order's Tutors according to the criteria set out in the Framework Agreement (professional training of supervisors, compliance with ethical standards, suitability of workplaces and information devices/workstations/software that can be used by trainees).
Graduates may select the location where they intend to carry out their internship from the Register of Accredited Hosts.
The internship takes place in accordance with the criteria of the Regulations on Professional Training.
On completion of the internship, the trainee draws up a portfolio of documents detailing the work carried out, which will be assessed by our Order, the Coordinating Body for the internship, and submits the required documentation Trainee Report e Internship Supervisor’s Report).
