The “Country Guide” inaugurates a new digital publishing format, an operational tool dedicated to those architects who intend – or would even just like to know how - to open their own business in a foreign country, thinking about a local collaboration with an existing organisation or the possibility of setting up on their own. A “handbook” with no claim to be complete but which illustrates the characteristics of a foreign country, the ways in which architects usually operate, the more practical aspects, the cultural aspects, and the fiscal issues involved in starting a business abroad.
The first digital volume of the “Country Guide” series is dedicated to China, a place which has numerous links with Italy and where many of our colleagues already work. The author is Francesca Frassoldati, professor at the Politecnico di Torino, who has lived and worked in China for many years.
The guide offers a very descriptive overview of the profession and the figure of the architect in China, with respect to the local culture and property market, and the economic and tax aspects involved in opening a business in that country, providing all the useful and practical information you need to find your way around. There are also some interviews with designers and architects who are already working or collaborating with China: designer Ferruccio Laviani, the architectural studios Progetto CMR, Quarta & Armando, Vudafieri Saverino Partners, architect Anna Spaggiari, and Katya Inzoli for Foscarini.
The Country Guide is a valuable reference tool for those interested in understanding a little more about the many possibilities of starting a collaboration with China and how to start putting them into practice.
Our thanks go to Trendzone for collaboration on the publication.
